The new hyJOIN® technology enables quick and reliable metal-thermoplastic connections within seconds.
Complex assemblies combine materials from different classes, such as metal and plastic. Until now, the parts have been glued, screwed or connected with retaining clips. To save installation space, additional material and time, hyJOIN® thermal direct joining offers a suitable alternative for reliable joints.

The components are pressed together in the joint area. At the same time, the metal is heated by inductive eddy currents. The plastic melts in the contact area and bonds to the metal surface after cooling. Since unmodified plastics usually adhere poorly to metal, the metal is roughened or coated in an upstream process. This allows the plastic to stick well to the surface, regardless of the additive content. The joints produced in this way are media-tight, long-term stable and highly resilient. Even spot joints, such as those used to join steel to steel in the automotive industry, are possible with this process and the appropriate equipment.

The advantages of this resource-saving technology, such as media tightness, short process times and good automatability, are particularly evident in the production of lightweight thermal management systems. In this way, complex and compact cooling solutions for tomorrow's mobility can be realised.

The benefits of hyJOIN®:
- Stable connection without additional material
- Joining complex components within seconds
- Geometric flexibility through exchangeable heating modules
- Monitoring of all relevant process parameters in automated assembly production
