Decontamination of rPET Flakes for food contact
: from rPET to Food Grade
Kreyenborg’s IR-Clean system decontaminates recycled PET flakes, allowing them to be reprocessed for use in food packaging that may come into contact with all types of food.
The process reduces contamination of the recycled material to a level determined harmless to health. The cleaning efficiency has been confirmed by both the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This significantly shortens and simplifies the registration and approval process for customers of the Kreyenborg system IR-Clean.
Kreyenborg’s IR-Fresh System treats recycled material from post-consumer plastic packaging (flakes and pellets made of PP, HDPE, LDPE, TPE, PS, PA, and others) to remove the intense odors caused by cleaning agents, detergents, chemicals, cosmetics, food, or fuels. The result is high-quality end products. The system has a modular design, and retrofit solutions are available for existing extrusion lines.
The cleaning efficiency has been confirmed by both the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This significantly shortens and simplifies the registration and approval process for customers of the Kreyenborg plant.
