Innovative tool for early assessment of the PCF in plastic part development
Calculating the carbon footprint of injection moulded parts is essential for sustainability. Until now, determining the product carbon footprint (PCF) was often time-consuming and costly. BARLOG Plastics has developed a new tool that makes it possible to estimate and optimise the PCF of plastic components at an early stage. This tool supports development engineers and sustainability officers in environmentally friendly product development and the improvement of existing plastic articles.
The PCF calculation tool is part of BARLOG Plastics' “ECO-Consulting” service and helps to assess and minimise the carbon footprint of plastic products. It enables data on different product variants to be analysed and compared by estimating the carbon footprint, taking into account the material, production process and transport. Tobias Haedecke, Director of Engineering at BARLOG Plastics, emphasises the importance of this tool for sustainable product development and increasing efficiency in the manufacture of more environmentally friendly plastic products.
BARLOG Plastics sees ECO-Consulting as an important contribution to promoting the circular economy and achieving global sustainability goals. The challenge of making components more sustainable is often complex and requires customised solutions. ECO-Consulting offers companies guidance and support to reduce their product carbon footprint and develop sustainable components. Companies are invited to discuss the new possibilities and gain inspiration for their own projects.
