Masterbatches for PCR plastics

At FAKUMA 2024 from October 15 to 19 in Friedrichshafen, Deifel Buntfarbenfabrik will be focusing on one topic: the coloring of PCR plastics (Post-Consumer Recycled Polymers). As a long-standing specialist in the industry for customer-specific colouring solutions, we have also specialized in the challenge of colouring recycled plastics efficiently and sustainably with our masterbatches in recent years.

What are PCR plastics and why are they important?

PCR polymers come from recycled plastic waste that is collected and recycled by end users, e.g. in the Yellow Bag. These recycled plastics are becoming increasingly important as both companies and consumers focus more and more on sustainability. The European Union is driving this change with the EU Plastics Strategy and specific requirements such as the EU Packaging Regulation. The European Packaging Directive 94/62/EC has been regulating the placing on the market, take-back and recycling of packaging in the European Union for almost 30 years. In Germany, it is currently implemented by the Packaging Act (VerpackG). In future, companies will be increasingly obliged to use a minimum proportion of recycled material in their products.

The processing of PCR plastics places special demands on coloring. As experts in high-quality color masterbatches, we have developed solutions that make it possible to achieve very beautiful and consistent colors even with recycled materials. Our color systems are optimally matched to the special properties of recycled materials and help to ensure that products made from PCR plastics meet the highest aesthetic and functional requirements.
