Contexo demonstrates how intelligent feeding, continuous motion, fast assembly and inline quality control can combine high output rates with consistently high part quality. Contexo builds high-speed assembly machines for beverage closures. At their highest speeds, the process is too fast for the human eye to follow: every 65 milliseconds, a new closure is assembled, folded, inspected three times and packed. That means up to 920 closures per minute or 1.3 million per day – with 100% inspection and no defective parts leaving the machine. This performance is based on continuous-motion technology. Contexo has been developing this technology for more than 20 years and is today a leading specialist in the field. “The challenge was to develop an exceptionally fast and reliable assembly machine within a small footprint,” says Matthias Müller, CCO of Contexo. “We believe that continuous motion, combined with intelligent feeding of warm-molded parts and direct inline inspection, is the most effective solution.”
Contexo’s expertise goes beyond speed. It specializes in complex closures and develops machines for a wide range of requirements. These include the precise addition of powders, pills or liquids, as well as special sealings, TE printing, printing, laser cutting and laser welding. Complex closures are often introduced together with new beverage products. If a product is successful, demand for the corresponding closure can increase rapidly. For machine builders, this makes flexibility and scalability essential. Contexo therefore develops modular platform systems that can cover different output requirements and adapt to the various stages of a product’s life cycle.
