Automation Solutions for High-Volume Medical Device Production

Whether CRC closures, insulin dosing devices, diagnostic kits or sterile primary packaging – Contexo develops and builds cleanroom automation systems for complex medical devices and components in high-volume production. The systems combine a compact footprint with high efficiency and are based on standardized modules for assembly, sealing, punching, welding and inspection. Laser-based processes can also be integrated seamlessly into the machine concept. New products call for new ideas, new processes and new approaches. Thinking differently, challenging established methods while building on proven technologies – that is what Contexo is all about. Alongside its in-depth manufacturing expertise, the Contexo team contributes extensive experience and technical know-how to every project. Working closely with the customer, the team develops the optimum solution for the specific application. Matthias Müller (CCO) describes this approach as a “development partnership.” From the earliest stages of product and process development, Contexo ensures that all machine modules are designed to meet the latest applicable certification requirements and standards. This enables customers to take the right approach to automation from the outset and develop a production solution that is ready for industrial-scale manufacturing. One example is a machine developed for the production of CRC closures: it handles 15 product variants, each consisting of four components, and achieves an annual production capacity of 38 million parts. The two-lane rotary indexing machine features four feeding stations and is designed for both dry and liquid CRC closures. The entire production process is continuously monitored, with 100% inspection of all parts. The target is zero defects – every finished product must meet the specified quality requirements. Highly precise processes combined with comprehensive in-line inspection ensure consistent product quality and prevent defective parts from reaching the market.
