ALLROUNDER MORE: Fully automated multi-component injection moulding

A technically sophisticated turnkey solution presents ARBURG centred around an ALLROUNDER MORE 2000: The two-component machine produces two-colour dominoes using a 32-cavity hot runner mould. A new feature is the pre-assembly of the boxes in an autonomous, upstream automation cell. A collaborating cobot is also used to complete and perform the output of the complete ‘ready-to-use’ game set.

This trade fair exhibit was created with partners Polarform and Hasco and features an impressive and ingenious concept consisting of multi-component machine, mould technology and automated handling and packaging.

In a cycle time of around 60 s, 32 different two-colour domino bricks are produced to create a complete set of dominoes. The mould movement is generated using a two-stage core pull concept: The front side of the dominoes is created by first injecting a ABS component via the vertical injection unit. With the tool closed, two hydraulic cylinders then retract the cores and the individual number of pins. This creates space in the cavities for the second ABS component.

A MULTILIFT V 30 places the finished parts down on a conveyor belt. An autonomous automation cell pre-assembles the boxes. On a worktable outside the safety fence an autonomously operating mobile cobot is supplemented that stacks the dominoes in the boxes placed anywhere on the table. The staff at the machine hand out the completed domino set to visitors.

To ensure safe collaboration between humans and robots, the workspace is secured by a light barrier. A stand-alone solution of this kind, placed on a mobile trolley, can be used very flexibly and efficiently as end-of-line automation on various systems.
