Comparison of Contact Area: Square vs. Round Cartridge Heaters
Freek square cartridge heaters are a flexible solution for heating plates, sealing bars, sealing stations and other applications where high heating performance is required as close as possible to the tool surface.
Instead of costly deep-hole drilling, the flexible heaters are installed and pressed into simply machined rectangular grooves. This makes it easier to accommodate complex plate geometries with holes and cut-outs while allowing the heating path to be adapted specifically to the required temperature distribution.
The square design provides a contact area of up to 75%, enabling very direct heat transfer. Further advantages include a single-ended connection, no need for heat transfer cement, and the option of non-destructive maintenance and removal.
Integrated thermocouples and customised power distribution are available as options. This allows both uniform and deliberately differentiated temperature profiles to be achieved.
More design freedom for the heated surface, with less effort in manufacturing and assembly.
