Gentle grip in the modular system: AGS adds soft grippers to the PreciGrip range
Bergisch Gladbach, 09/2026. Delicate injection-moulded parts, filled bags or components with varying geometry quickly push rigid grippers and suction cups to their limits. AGS Automation Greifsysteme Schwope has therefore added a series of pneumatic soft grippers to its PreciGrip programme. The flexible silicone fingers conform to the shape of the workpiece and hold it without force control, without sensors and without leaving marks on the surface.
The series comprises grippers with one, two and three fingers in lengths from around 40 to 110 mm, covering gripping ranges from 15 to over 100 mm. The food-grade silicone is tested to FDA and EC 1935/2004; an antistatic version is available for electronic components and a reinforced version for higher holding forces.
The fingers are actuated by compressed air alone: positive pressure of up to 1.2 bar (reinforced version up to 3 bar) closes them, vacuum opens them wide. Gripping force is thus infinitely adjustable via pressure. The fingers handle up to 300 cycles per minute, last around one million cycles and withstand surface temperatures from –30 to +280 °C – so even warm parts can be removed directly from the mould.
The real benefit lies in the integration: the soft grippers are mounted on the aluminium profiles using the standard clamps and adapter plates of the PreciGrip modular system. Existing removal grippers can be extended with a soft-gripping function in a matter of minutes; the air connection (G1/8) uses the air supply extensions already present in the system. Typical applications include thin-walled or ribbed injection-moulded parts, bags, bottles and trays in packaging, fruit, vegetables and baked goods, as well as class-A surfaces on which suction cups would leave marks.
