PU overmolding technology, also known as ColorForm, Clearmelt, Direct Coating, or In-Mold Coating, is becoming more and more important for the direct coating of thermoplastic injection-molded parts. While PU coatings have been established in automotive interiors for years, Rühl Puromer has further developed this surface finishing technology with its innovative puroclear® coating systems. The self-releasing technology enables high-gloss surfaces directly from the mold, improving production efficiency. At the same time, an integrated self-healing effect ensures greater durability in daily use. These properties set new standards for high-quality surfaces.

As a pioneer and one of the market leaders, Rühl Puromer now offers puroclear® PU coating systems for an ever-expanding range of applications. In the automotive sector in particular, numerous components with integrated lighting and functions have already been successfully produced in series. The technology has meanwhile also expanded to exterior applications. High-end front panels with integrated lighting, such as those in the all-electric Mercedes EQS, demonstrate the potential for high-quality and durable exterior surfaces.

In addition to transparent coatings, demand for colored PU coating solutions is on the rise. Black puroclear® COLOR is already well-established in series applications for components such as pillar trim. Additional colors and metallic variants are currently being validated.
