Flexible gripping modules for large, heavy, and irregularly shaped products

With the SoftGripping GorillaFinger SoftActuators, SoftGripping presents a flexible gripping solution for demanding automation tasks at Fakuma. The GorillaFingers are specifically designed for large, bulky, and heavy products and are particularly suitable for objects that are difficult to handle safely with rigid grippers or conventional vacuum solutions.

The pneumatically driven fingers made of silicone rubber flexibly adapt to different shapes and surfaces. Thanks to their soft, enveloping gripping principle, they can securely pick up, hold, and place even irregularly shaped, slippery, or sensitive products. Especially for products without a fixed geometry — such as bags, netted goods, or large-surface objects — the enveloping grip provides stable hold.

SoftGripping therefore presents a gripping module that can be easily integrated into individual EOAT setups. The actuators can be mounted on different carrier plates, aluminum profiles, or customer-specific bases. This allows gripper solutions to be quickly adapted to new products, formats, or production requirements.

The GorillaFinger SoftActuators also offer important added value in terms of sustainability: one flexible gripping module can cover different product variants, reducing the need for product-specific custom grippers. This supports more resource-efficient automation, less changeover effort, and more efficient use of existing robot and EOAT systems. The ability to adapt finger positions or gripper setups makes the system particularly interesting for high-mix production environments.
