TECNARO has been committed to sustainability long before ‘greenwashing’ became a buzzword and EmpCo
The new requirements of the European EmpCo Directive have been in force since 27 September 2026. Here at TECNARO, we see this primarily as an opportunity, as preventing greenwashing is important. It is equally important that credible sustainability is not lost amidst general scepticism. EmpCo can achieve both: making misleading claims more difficult and reinforcing scientifically proven sustainability.
For our customers, this standard is nothing new. For almost 30 years, we have been scientifically developing and documenting our materials and – depending on the material, formulation and application – providing robust information and evidence, for example on: BCC – bio-based carbon content | GWP – global warming potential / carbon footprint | LCA – life cycle assessment | biodegradability under defined conditions | material properties and technical tests. This is underpinned by our in-house research and development, our own testing laboratories, as well as standards-based and external tests, analyses and certifications in accordance with recognised standards, such as ISO, ASTM or DIN-CERTCO procedures. Our materials and technologies have always been subject to evaluation by independent expert panels and have received numerous awards – ranging from the European Inventor Award from the European Patent Office to the Diesel Medal for the most sustainable innovation and Material ConneXion New York.
Furthermore, we document our sustainability performance scientifically and voluntarily undergo external audits, certifications and regular revalidations.
GREEN BRANDS GERMANY: ARBOFORM®, ARBOBLEND® and ARBOFILL® were recognised as early as the inaugural GREEN BRANDS Germany 2013 and have been recognised every year since, seven times in a row. Later, TECNARO was also certified as a company and has been regularly revalidated ever since. For us, GREEN BRANDS has therefore stood for continuity, transparency and credible sustainability for many years.
