Fakuma 2023: Plastics Festival in Friedrichshafen

Roughly four weeks before the 28th Fakuma international trade fair for plastics processing opens its doors in Friedrichshafen from 17 to 21 October 2023, all of the exhibition halls are occupied. Final preparations are nearing completion. The world’s leading trade fair highlight for injection moulding, extrusion technology, thermoforming and 3D printing will deal with the forward-looking topics of circular economy, digitalisation, process automation and energy efficiency.

Fakuma 2023 will surely be a feast for plastics. “Spirits are high, the exhibitors are excited about presenting their future-oriented solutions and the expert visitors can look forward to an inspiring trade fair,” says Annemarie Schur, Fakuma project manager at trade fair promoters P. E. Schall. Attention will be focused on the topics of circular economy, recycling and sustainability. For manufacturers and users, the focus has shifted to ecologically compatible plastics production and processing. The list is headed up by top-quality, durable high-tech plastic solutions which are used in a broad range of industries where they’re indispensable, for example in energy technology, mobility, construction and technical components, as well as in the consumer and furnishing sectors. Fakuma will demonstrate that the highly complex subject of plastics can be incorporated into climate protection and circular economy, and that it’s forward-looking in a very special way.

This year’s Fakuma will once again be distinguished by its high levels of practical relevance. Technological trends and their implementation in series production are showcased at the event. As driving R&D factors, energy efficiency, sustainability, design for recycling and AI-based solutions will be addressed extensively. Suppliers have continued their work on potential savings resulting from intelligent interaction amongst machines, tools and peripheral technology, especially in the field of thermal process management. The plastics processing sector will experience new products and technological solutions in halls A1 to A7 and B1 to B5, as well as in the east and west foyer areas including the east concourse. A visit to Fakuma 2023 will certainly be worthwhile because the trade fair agenda includes the usual further developed machines, as well as optimised processes and future-oriented business models.

The currently difficult overall conditions with regard to price development, supply chains and the shortage of qualified personnel will also be on everyone’s agenda.

A new event format will also be featured at Fakuma 2023 – a roundtable discussion on the subject of “Plastic – Recyclable Material Rather Than Problem Material!”. It focuses on the value of plastics and their special significance for everyone. At the same time, problematic aspects will be explored and options for overcoming complex challenges will be discussed. Renowned representatives from industry, research and politics will convene at the roundtable, provide food for thought and advocate clarification with regard to plastics:

Markus Lüling in the Switzerland room in the West Conference Centre at the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Centre beginning at 4:30 p.m. om the 17th of October, 2023.
